59 debate topics to practise out loud
Every motion the arena offers, by category, with how hard the rival pushes. Questions about debate practice
What are good debate topics for students?
Motions with two honest sides and no special knowledge needed: whether schools should ban smartphones, whether social media should be forbidden under 16, whether using AI for homework is cheating. The Technology and School & Work categories above are the ones teachers pick most; each can be argued in a few minutes from everyday experience.
How do I practise debating alone?
Pick a motion, choose a side, and argue it against the AI rival in the arena: it answers your points, raises the ones you missed and pushes back. A judge then scores who won, which arguments you dropped, the fallacies and the rebuttals you missed. One debate is free.
Can I debate in a language other than English?
Yes. The arena runs in any of the 57 languages TalkNative teaches; the rival argues in that language and the judge reports in it.
What does "spice" mean next to a motion?
How hard the rival will push. One chilli is a friendly disagreement; three is an opponent who concedes nothing and interrupts. Start at one.
Can I debate my own motion?
Yes. In the arena you can type any motion instead of picking one from this list.
