Indonesian, from the textbook to Jakarta.

Indonesian is the easiest big language to start: Latin alphabet, phonetic spelling, no tenses, no gender. Learners get to a plateau fast and stay there, because the textbook Indonesian they learned is not what Jakarta speaks, and the affix system (me-, ber-, -kan, -i) is where the real grammar hides.

Your AI partner talks with you in Indonesian daily, in the register you choose from formal to Jakarta casual, corrects the affix on screen, and keeps going. For Bali, for business, for the partner’s family.

Why Indonesian is hard to speak

What stops learners talking, and what fixes it.

1

The affixes

"Beli", "membeli", "membelikan", "dibeli", "pembelian": one root, many words. Learned by using them in sentences, corrected each time.

2

Formal versus Jakarta

"Tidak" becomes "nggak", "saya" becomes "gue". Ask your partner for casual Indonesian and it speaks the way the city does.

3

Pronouns and respect

"Bapak", "Ibu", "Mas", "Mbak", "kamu", "Anda": the choice says who you both are. The scenes put you with officials, elders and friends.
