Questions about languages

Which languages can I practise speaking on TalkNative?

57 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Greek, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Belarusian, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, Slovenian, Macedonian, Catalan, Galician, Welsh, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Bengali, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Tagalog, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Nepali, Kazakh, Azerbaijani, Armenian, Maori, Swahili, Afrikaans, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic. Every one can be practised out loud with an AI partner in Call Mode, Build Your Confidence, Real World Scenarios, Debate, Start from Zero and Word Mode. IELTS practice and visa interviews are in English, because the real ones are.

Can the explanations be in my own language?

Yes. When you set up you choose the language you already speak, and Start from Zero and Word Mode explain every new word and correction in it. An Urdu speaker learning English, a Spanish speaker learning German, an Arabic speaker learning French: all work.

Does the AI really speak all of them, or just translate?

It speaks them. The AI partners listen to your voice and answer out loud in natural speech, in the language you chose, with the accent and register the situation calls for. Corrections are shown on screen as you talk.

What if my language is not on the list?

The roster is the set of languages the speech models understand well enough to correct you fairly. We add a language when it reaches that standard, not before, so the practice stays honest. Ask us at contact@talknative.io and we will tell you where it stands.
