Maori · Te Reo Māori · AI speaking partner

Te reo Māori, spoken every day.

Te reo is being learned by more New Zealanders than at any time in a century, and most learners have nowhere to speak it between classes. The pronunciation is regular and the grammar has no conjugation; the obstacle is practice, and the fear of getting it wrong in front of speakers.

Your AI partner talks with you in te reo daily, corrects the vowel length and the particle on screen, and keeps the kōrero going. For whānau, for work, for the marae.

Te Reo Māori

Unlock your Maori fluency

Speak from day one. Real conversations, corrected out loud.

Why Maori is hard to speak

What stops learners talking, and what fixes it.

1

Vowel length

"Keke" (cake) and "kēkē" (armpit). The macron is a sound, and the ear learns it by hearing itself corrected.

2

The particles

"Kei te", "i", "ka", "e ... ana": the small words that carry tense. Learned by speaking, not by table.

3

Mihi and whakataukī

Introducing yourself properly, and the sayings that carry meaning. The partner helps you build your own pepeha.

Questions

Before you start speaking Maori

Can it help me prepare a pepeha or a mihi?

Yes. Tell your partner about yourself and it helps you shape and practise a pepeha out loud, correcting pronunciation as you go.

Is the pronunciation right?

The AI speaks standard te reo with correct vowel lengths and the "wh" and "ng" sounds, and corrects yours on screen. Dialect differences (Tūhoe, Taranaki) are not modelled.

Are the corrections explained in my own language?

Yes. You choose the language you already speak at setup (English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and 50 more), and explanations in Start from Zero and Word Mode come in it while the practice stays in te reo Māori.

Is Māori practice free?

Every module has a free taste with no card. Full access is a one-time payment for 30 days.
