Why more input will not fix it
Another podcast, another series: they add recognition, which you already have. The thousandth hour of listening does less for your speech than the first hour of speaking.
Why you need a listener
Talking to yourself has no stakes, so recall does not strain. A coach who asks the next question makes you find the word now, which is where the skill is built.
Why corrections on screen
When you finally say a sentence, the natural version appears beside it without stopping you. Recognition does the rest: you see the better form and recognise it instantly, because recognition is your strength.
The plan
Ten days, ten minutes each
Every day is one conversation with the coach. Do them in order; day seven and day ten give you a Confidence Score to compare.
- 1
describe your room in English for one minute. Count the pauses; that number will fall.
- 2
the coach asks about your week. Answer every question with at least two sentences.
- 3
retell something you read today, out loud, in your own words.
- 4
when a word will not come, describe it instead ("the thing you use to…"). This is what fluent speakers do.
- 5
five minutes on your work. Use five words you know from reading but have never said.
- 6
explain how to make your favourite dish, step by step.
- 7
a ten-minute session and your first Confidence Score.
- 8
an opinion, with a reason and an example, about anything.
- 9
the coach disagrees; defend your opinion for thirty seconds.
- 10
ten minutes, any topic. Count the pauses again.
The coach is waiting for day one
A warm voice that talks with you about your day, never interrupts, shows the natural version of what you said on screen, and scores how confidently you carried the conversation. Ten minutes. Nobody watching.

Why can I understand English but not speak it?
Because you have practised recognition for years and recall almost never. Recognition is what reading and listening build; recall is what speaking needs, and it is built only by producing sentences with someone waiting for them.
Will my speaking catch up with my understanding?
Faster than a beginner’s would, because the vocabulary is already there; it only needs moving. Most people with strong passive English speak noticeably more easily within three weeks of daily practice.
Should I study grammar first?
You already know more grammar than you can use. The gap is not knowledge; it is speed. Speak first, read the corrections, and the grammar you know arrives in your speech on its own.
Is the coach free?
Every account gets three free minutes of coaching with no card. Full access is a one-time payment for 30 days.
